The power of prayer

The followers of the Lord Jesus asked Him: “Lord teach us to pray!” They saw Him pray, and the power that emanated from Him. Those disciples of Jesus Christ saw: prayer is not only a task, but also a gift. In the life of their Master, prayer was the song of His life, the hope of His thoughts and the music of His soul. Christ, their Master, had come to overcome evil, sin and the devil. He gave His life for it and He overcame. Believers who followed Him and also wanted to learn to pray, asked themselves: Where do I get the strength from when I run up against limits and have no courage anymore?

1 Peter 1:1-9: “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ.

To the chosen ones who are scattered as strangers in Pontus,

Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia dwell in the presence of God the Father,

predestined to be obedient, sanctified by the Spirit, and with the

blood of Jesus Christ to be sprinkled. Grace to you and peace, in

abundance. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. For for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith, an inheritance that will never fade away and never perish, awaiting you in heaven, a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while you may have had to endure all kinds of trials to your sorrow, so that your faith—which is much more precious than gold, which perishes even though tested by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, honor and glory when Jesus Christ is revealed. Although you have never seen him, you love him; and although you do not see him now, you believe in him and experience an unspeakable, heavenly joy as you receive the goal of your faith, your salvation.”
